Medway Valley Walk

Medway Valley Walk Route Map

Yes, another good 'un - 28.25 Miles from Tonbridge to Rochester Kent, walked in two sections: Tonbridge to Maidstone, Maidstone to Rochester in early 2006.  From Tonbridge you are basically carrying on from where the Eden Valley way leaves off - immediately across the same bridge and out into the countryside.  You follow close by the Medway for roughly half the journey, but through industrial areas around Aylsham and nearer Rochester you veer away. You join the North Downs Way for a couple of miles before rejoining the river near the major medway bridge south of Rochester.  You travel  through places like East Peckham, Yalding and Wateringbury.  The walk is a mix of beautiful countryside and some rather shabby ex industry - but is very interesting nethertheless.

Tonbridge...bridge, the start.

Wateringbury.  Just after seeing my first baby lambs of 2006 ahhh!

Bit muddy like

Some lazy sod from the railway adjacent fly tipping flat bottom on the footpath!

Just near the end of section at Maidstone

At Maidstone - this section has a feel similar to walking the non tidal Thames beyond Teddington.

Allington Lock

Across into Aylesford

Some Industry near Snodland

'THE' medway Bridge - near Rochester
